Programme Manager Job Nova Pioneer

Nova Pioneer is expanding from its network of high-quality, affordable schools to launch a world-class African Teacher College in partnership with the leading teaching training organization, Instill www.instill.education. We’ve got a big vision: developing tens of thousands of exceptional teachers who will reshape the education across the continent.  To do this we are building a learning experience in line with the best, proven teacher training institutions in the world in which prospective teachers learn the nuanced craft of teaching in the classroom and not just theory.

We are searching for a rockstar Programme Manager to coordinate and oversee a wide range of tasks required to quickly and effectively launch the college in Kenya. This role requires a passionate individual who can think creatively, move quickly, work independently, and one who is deeply passionate about our vision. This role will be pivotal in building and leading a team of exceptional individuals to form the founding core of the Nova Pioneer-Instill vision.

Nova Pioneer has quickly grown a leader in innovative education in the region. We are  serving more than 4,000 students in ten schools across the two regions and we were named one of the top three fast growing enterprises across Africa by the African Leadership Network.

This is a rare entrepreneurial opportunity to shape education in the region and build a new institution from modest roots.  You will take the reins of some of the most important functions in rapidly-growing organization, joining early enough to shape strategy and build creative solutions.

Responsibilities

As Programme Manager, you will be working with Instill’s Leadership Team and network of global partners to build our team and manage our campus in Kenya. Specifically, you will:

  • Work with the Leadership Team to gather market data and set a strategic plan and budget for Instill Education (Kenya)
  • Manage relationships with regional partners and develop new partnerships to support the achievement of Instill’s mission and grow student enrollment
  • Plan and execute all non-academic aspects of the student life cycle including student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, registration, and certification
  • Oversee general programme administration including student data management, budgeting and the academic calendar
  • Develop expertise in all matters related to teacher certification, support eligible teachers in completing certification requirements and processes, complete annual reporting to regulatory agencies, and submit regulatory applications as needed
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute logistics for all class sessions, including setting up classrooms and supplies, and communicating to graduate students and instructors
  • Plan and execute large-scale regional events including recruitment events, orientation, and graduation
  • Oversee renovation and launch of our first campus
  • Recruit key functional and instructional leaders that will form the backbone of your team
  • Ensure regulatory and legal compliance of our campus infrastructure and a academic programmes
  • Work with our Leadership Team to implement systems and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency

You are a visionary leader with a deep passion for education. You have experience working in a fast paced environment, and have both built and managed teams. You are not afraid to immerse yourself in completely new contexts and tackle complex problems. You are not afraid of failure, and are driven to improve through robust, data driven decision making and feedback. When evaluating your candidacy, we’ll look for the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years experience, including managing high-functioning teams and complex projects
  • Passionate about scalable and innovative education projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail and thorough project management
  • A creative, problem-solving approach, with a focus on achieving results
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and a startup environment, but have knowledge and insight to provide structure where needed
  • A data-driven decision mentality and sound judgment achieved through a strong analytical mindset
