Senior Research Analyst at ICEA Lion Asset Management

ILAM is looking to recruit a Senior Research Analyst to be based in Nairobi, Kenya. He/she shall be responsible for providing the investment team with insights regarding current and prospective investments in various asset classes. He/she carries out research and recommends investment decisions.

Responsibilities

• Undertake macroeconomic research (currency, interest rates, inflation and GDP) and advise on implications for the investment strategy
• Analyse current and prospective fixed income investments and inform the investment team on entry and exit opportunities
• Conducting equity research and building financial models which ultimately provide investment recommendations to the investment team.
• Research securities of target industries and companies to provide investment recommendations
• Assist the fund managers (portfolio managers) in the critical evaluation of potential fixed income and equity investments
• Presentation of insights to the investment team during weekly and ad hoc research meetings.
• Develop and write research reports and publications to be presented to management or clients

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline from a reputable university.
• Professional certification(s) e.g. ACCA, CPA, CISI, CFA Candidate
• At least three (3) years’ experience in investment research & analysis
• Knowledge of Macroeconomic research so as to provide insights on economic trends and implications for the investment portfolio, Fixed income research – government and corporate bonds, Equity research and fundamental analysis of stocks
• Strong report writing and presentation skills. Excellent communicator
• Strong analytical and fact-based decision-making skills.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Good business acumen / business orientation.
