I thought this was a good opportunity, and although I had never sold anything, I was ready for the task. Although I eventually had to leave to pursue other career and educational goals, it was an experience that made me open-minded.”

Many insurance companies, if not all, employ sales executives to market their products and policies. An insurance sales job is one of the easiest careers to get in the country, but it is also one of the hardest for those who lack the skills to market products. If you are not prepared for a real challenge, the job of a sales executive could become very demanding and stressful.

Jubilee Insurance Company is considered one of the oldest insurance companies in the country. It not only has offices in Kenya but in Uganda and Tanzania too. Just like other sales and marketing jobs, the salary is purely on a commission basis, as per the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) of Kenya, on a percentage of the previous month’s total sales done.

What this therefore means is that your hard work determines just how much you get to take home at the end of the month. The commissions are very attractive.

Those who have previously worked in the company also term it as a good place to work, with some even gathering other skills such as in management.

The advantage to this kind of work is that the more you get the clients, the easier it becomes to stay in the company. Also, the salary is not constant. The more you sell insurance products, the more you earn.

What you need to do in order to succeed and climb up the ladder, therefore, is to gather the courage to face all kinds of customers. Often times, you will meet rude customers who might scare you, but if you explain to them about the products, some of them might take the policies.

In order to get hired at Jubilee for this role, all you need to do is apply, and if successful, you will be called for a face-to-face interview. If you are successful after that, you will be called for job training.
