The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation was incorporated in 1966 as a Company limited by guarantee. The core business of the Foundation is publishing of educational and general materials and expending its profits on a scholarships programme for bright but needy students in public secondary school.

The Foundation seeks to fill the position of Managing Director.

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership in the implementation and evaluation of corporate strategic plans and
  • Managing the day to day operations of the Company and overseeing legal, regulatory and statutory
  • Guiding management and advising the Board on opportunities for investment and business
  • Developing of and recommending to the Board the short, medium and long term strategies, business plans and annual operating budgets to achieve corporate
  • Maintaining a work environment suitable for attracting, developing and retaining a dynamic
  • Establishing proper internal monitoring and control
  • Building relevant organizational capacity to deliver on strategy by guiding, directing and evaluating the work of other senior executives within the
  • Creating partnerships and linkages at the highest level with key stakeholders to enhance JKFs corporate

 Qualifications

In order to be considered, the candidate must:-

  • Be a holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Social Sciences, or any other related field from a recognized institution
  • Possess a Master’s Degree from a recognized University in any field in (a) above or any other related field
  • Have knowledge and work experience of not less than Ten (10) years in the Public Service, Private Sector or Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), regional or International Organizations, Five (5) of which must have been at Senior Management
  • Have attended and successfully completed a Senior Management Course or Strategic Leadership Programme from Kenya School of Government or its equivalent from a recognized
  • Be a member of a relevant professional body in good standing/current
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of Leadership and Strategic
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, networking and collaborative
  • Have knowledge and clear understanding of Educational Sector, Publishing and Scholarship Industry; as an added advantage

Qualifications

The Applicant must:-

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • Be a transformative leader and demonstrate the ability to enhance the visibility of the Foundation
  • Demonstrate understanding of corporate governance for state
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of Government policies and
  • Demonstrate ability to lead in resource mobilization and to efficiently and prudently manage and account for use of public
  • Demonstrate integrity, accountability and
  • Be capable of initiating strategies aimed at effectively achieving the core mandate of the foundation

Other Mandatory Requirements

 In addition to academic qualifications, experience and person specifications referred to herein above, all interested applicants must have clearances from the following institutions:-

  • Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the National Police Service, Directorate of Criminal
  • Tax Compliance Certificate issued by the Kenya Revenue
  • Certificate of Clearance from a registered Credit Reference
  • Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption
  • Clearance from the Higher Education’s Loans

Terms of Service and Remuneration

  • The successful candidate will serve for a Three (3) years’ contract which, subject to satisfactory performance, shall be renewable only
  • Remuneration attached to this position shall be determined in accordance with Section 5(3) of the State Corporations Act Cap 446 and as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission
