 Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction -Think about the future, keep up-to-date with market developments and evolve strategy
• Communicate to ensure team alignment on vision, strategy and market developments
• Lead the agenda of growth and excellence including development and improvement of offerings, forging new partnerships and institutionalizing system and process improvements
• Coordinate with other practice heads to align strategy and realize synergies
• Building Eminence: Conceptualize and develop thought leading content for presentations and publications
• Represent the practice in domestic and international public forums
• Lead and foster innovation and thought leadership within the team Contribute to the P&L
• Drive business development efforts for the practice through stakeholder outreach and interactions, business ideation and pitch preparation
• Regular tracking of business development opportunities coming up in Agri/health/Finance/WASH – space.
• Lead proposal development in the areas of technical content, financial planning, human resource planning, and management
• Coordinate with other teams in the organization, and Technical Experts for requirements of preparing technical write-up for proposals
• Support in the business development opportunities from international and bilateral agencies, as well Government clients in alignment with the strategic plan of and the healthcare/agri practice in particular
• Work with the senior management in developing and executing a sector growth strategy
• Over time, assume increased responsibilities as a member of the senior management team of the company developing the team, building talent: Plan the organization’s growth and map the competencies required to meet these goals
• Identify and fill key roles the practice
• Design and drive the mechanism for effective performance management and reward system for the practice
• Brand Building: Build institutional relations and brand of the company in the agriculture and related sectors
• Develop articles, concept notes, and whitepapers on strategic topics for publications and internal consumption
• Identify capacity building needs among the Associate and Senior Associate and provide support career development

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in relevant field of study or equivalent qualification in relevant field of study (Agriculture/Healthcare/Energy/Climate Change/Finance)
• For Senior Associate roles – Minimum of 4 -7 years of past experience in management and business consulting
• For Manager applicants – Minimum 8 years of experience in management/development sector consulting to corporations and/or multilaterals and/or government
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills both quantitative and qualitative;
• Exposure to business plan creation and building a business model would be desirable;
• Ability to synthesize information and assist in creating insightful recommendations for clients
• Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills
• Excellent client and team management skills, and commitment;
• Base of the Pyramid/Social Entrepreneurship/Inclusive Business in Africa
• Be a specialist in either field – Financial services/energy/climate /agriculture, and sanitation/health.
• Strong understanding of value chains, challenges faced by sector-entrepreneurs and financial service providers focused on supporting the industry
