JOB SUMMARY

Our client, a workshop in Thika is looking to hire experienced carpenters. They are looking to fill the role with someone experienced in the same field.  As a Carpenter, you should be fully conversant with wood-work to satisfy customers’ needs and requests           

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes
• Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers
• Help erect, level, and install building framework
• Follow blueprints drawings and sketches to fully grasp the requirements of the client
• Install structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding etc.
• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
• Cut, shape wood and other materials (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements

• Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated
• Build scaffolding and other construction structures

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Artisan certificate and joinery
• Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials
• Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
• Proficient in using electrical, manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings
• Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
• High level of integrity
• Good physical condition
