Job Title: Brand Executive- Sustainability

Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for supporting the execution of the airline’s environmental, social and governance sustainability objectives. The job holder will work closely with the Brand & Sustainability Manager in delivery and execution of the Kenya Airways sustainability agenda related to climate change, single use plastics, gender equality, wildlife trafficking and sustainable tourism.

Principle Accountabilities;

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

  • Manage engagement with different business units and relevant stakeholders to deliver actionable plans and measurable outcomes for sustainability related initiatives.
  • Identify and forge partnerships with a diverse range of external partners from local authorities to organisations, to deliver programmes and enhance sustainability outcomes for KQ.
  • Participate in sustainability programs with Aviation industry players and other relevant stakeholders.

Reporting

  • Report and monitor progress and identify gaps in the airline’s sustainability programme and materiality assessment.
  • Support the development of sustainability reports to meet KQ’s sustainability objectives.

Communication

  • Contribute to thought leadership from the ESG perspective and capacity building events across the airline.
  • Oversee the execution of brand and communications programs and activities for Sustainability.
  • Promote and raise awareness of emerging sustainability issues and developments with the airline’s employees.
  • Developing and executing our engagement campaigns to support our strategic sustainability goals
  • Prepare sustainability documents and communication materials to enable effective stakeholder engagement.

Sustainability Strategy Formulation

  • Identify opportunities for the application of new innovations and long-term sustainability projects aligned with strategy.
  • Coordinate and implement special CSR projects with other departments to promote sustainability strategy
  • Support implementation and execution of the sustainability strategy of the brand as well as continually evaluate and develop upon the existing strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and experience;

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, community development or a related field.
  • Diverse knowledge of different sustainability challenges
  • At least 2 years working in sustainability/ development, environment or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with a diverse range of internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects from inception in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate concepts while influencing stakeholders and partners at all levels.
  • Excellent writing skills
