Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Health, registered under Legal Notice Number 4 of the State Corporations Act Cap 446. The Hospital seeks to engage qualified staff on a three (3) to five (5) year performance-based renewable contract for the positions listed below. Applicants must demonstrate diligence, commitment, and a positive attitude.
NEUROLOGIST – V/FT/41/2023– 1 POST
Position Summary
The Neurologist coordinates and provides specialized neurological services and participate in research in the area of specialization
Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose complex medical problems by referring to a patient’s history, examining them and conducting neurological tests.
- Counsel patients on neurological disorders and its background.
- Order neurological tests and interpret the results of neuroimaging studies.
- Prescribe and/or administer treatment and medication.
- Monitor the behavioral and cognitive side effects of treatment and medication.
- Order supportive care services for patients.
- Participate in neuroscience research activities.
- Liaise with medical professionals in the community and hospitals.
- Keep up to date with neurological developments, treatment and medication.
- Perform specialized treatments for sleep disorders, neuroimmunology, neurooncology, behavioral neurology and neurogenetics.
- Perform and interpret electroencephalography, electromyography and nerve Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
- Master of Medicine in internal medicine from a recognized institution.
- Fellowship in Neurology from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.
- Valid Practice License.
- Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- At least one (1) year working experience as a Neurologist in a busy hospital.
