Our client is a Start-up in the ISP space in Kenya and they are looking to hire a Technical Operations Manager who will play a pivotal role in overseeing the technical aspects of their operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Internet infrastructure, network management, and technical support, with a focus on ensuring the services are delivered with the highest level of reliability and customer satisfaction. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic startup environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network performance and proactively address issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Manage relationships, work scope and performance of 3rd party contractors across the country, and with multiple contractors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy new network solutions to meet customer demands.
  • Lead a team of technical support specialists to provide top-notch customer support and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for technical support processes.
  • Work closely with customer support teams to ensure effective communication and timely issue resolution.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize our infrastructure to enhance service quality while controlling costs.
  • Implement best practices for capacity planning, resource utilization, and disaster recovery.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
  • Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of products and services.
  • Monitor vendor performance and evaluate their products for potential enhancements to our infrastructure.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor technical operations staff to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Must have 7+ proven experience in ISP, technical operations, network management, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, security, and infrastructure management.
  • Well- developed IT and Technical aptitude, with an understanding of service delivery process.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools and technologies used in Internet service provision.
