Job Purpose 

The purpose of the role is to provide high-quality and comprehensive support and guidance to grant managers. You will be responsible for financial monitoring and analysis of the programs of work undertaken by the International Secretariat (Amnesty’s head office) across the world.  

You will be in control of the financial accounting, processing, governance, treasury, and statutory reporting of the IS.  

About you 

We are recruiting a candidate who has a proven track record of financial grant management and reporting in a global organization. 

The candidate will have experience in producing grant budgets that reflect donor requirements and working with international partners and offices with fundraising teams.  

Main Responsibilities 

  • Working with new and existing partners and programme colleagues, manages financial aspects of grant inception, implementation and closure, including due diligence, contracts, sub-granting, reporting procedures, variance analysis, expenditure, grant payments and grant audits. 
  • Supporting grant managers throughout the grant lifecycle, ensuring controls and expenditures are compliant with internal and external policies, providing input and advice on potential budget changes and ensuring these are documented. Support with formal budget modifications and extension requests. 
  • Working with the Programme Funding and Partnerships, Management Accounts and Central Finance teams to ensure up to date grant information is reflected in organisational budgets, forecasts, treasury planning and financial reporting and supports ongoing risk management. 
  • Challenge, review and improve existing finance processes and reports, seeking new and better ways of supporting a changing and growing organisation, and take initiatives forward with the support of the Global Restricted Income Manager. 
  • Supporting the Global Restricted Income Manager and Global Philanthropy and Partnerships team in providing financial training and capacity building to stakeholders at the International Secretariat and global Amnesty organisations, as well as external partners where required. 

Skills and Experience 

  • CCAB qualified or equivalent  
  • Advanced excel skills  
  • Experience of using accounting software, preferably Dynamics 365 
  • Experience of explaining financial information clearly and concisely, empathising with and dealing with others’ requirements
