Duties and responsibilities:
The Medical Officer shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:
- Attending to patients in clerking, diagnoses, management, and follow- up;
- Performing medical and surgical procedures;
- Preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters;
- Participating in management of medicine and medical instruments and equipment;
- Providing health education;
- Maintaining medical records, health information, and data;
- Counselling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
- Teaching and coaching Medical students, Nursing students and
- Clinical Officers interns;
- Any other duty that the supervisor may assig.
Requirements for appointment:
- Be a Kenyan citizen;
- Be a holder of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
- Have completed 12 months internship period;
- Registered as a Medical Practitioner by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
- Have a Valid Practicing License;
- Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;
- Willing to undertake duties in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time;

Successful applicants are expected to get clearance from the following bodies.
- Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA)
- Credit Reference Bureau(CRB)
- Higher Education Loans Board(HELB)
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC)
- Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
- For those with higher education certificates (degrees) from outside Kenya, a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission of University Education.
Some detailed curriculum vitae, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates and transcripts, a National Identity Card or Passport, testimonials, and other relevant supporting documents should accompany each application.
