Duties and responsibilities:
The Medical Officer shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:

  •  Attending to patients in clerking, diagnoses, management, and follow- up;
  •  Performing medical and surgical procedures;
  •  Preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters;
  •  Participating in management of medicine and medical instruments and equipment;
  •  Providing health education;
  •  Maintaining medical records, health information, and data;
  •  Counselling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
  •  Teaching and coaching Medical students, Nursing students and
  • Clinical Officers interns;
  •  Any other duty that the supervisor may assig.

Requirements for appointment:

  •  Be a Kenyan citizen;
  •  Be a holder of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
  •  Have completed 12 months internship period;
  •  Registered as a Medical Practitioner by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
  •  Have a Valid Practicing License;
  •  Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;
  •  Willing to undertake duties in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time;

  • Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA)
  • Credit Reference Bureau(CRB)
  • Higher Education Loans Board(HELB)
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC)
  • Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
  • For those with higher education certificates (degrees) from outside Kenya, a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission of University Education.

Some detailed curriculum vitae, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates and transcripts, a National Identity Card or Passport, testimonials, and other relevant supporting documents should accompany each application.
