Duties and Responsibilities
- Formulating and implementing strategies and policies for procurement of goods and services Processing payments;
- Monitoring revenue collection and expenditures based on approved budgets;
- Applying sound principles, systems, and techniques in accounting for finances, assets, revenue, expenditure, and costs;
- Accounting for special funds, programs and projects funds;
- Verifying financial reports;
- Verifying bank reconciliation statements;
- Monitoring revenue collection and expenditures based on approved budgets;
- Authorizing payments and claims within set limits as approved;
- Ensuring Appropriation In Aid (A-in-A) reports are prepared on quarterly basis;
- Managing accounts receivables and payables;
- Verifying and receipting of all monies due and payable to the Board;
- Analyzing and reporting on revenue collected to Management;
- Ensuring Safe custody of Accountable Documents under his/her sections(s);
- Ensuring final accounts are prepared within the time frame provided by financial legislation;
- Preparing the financial statements of the Board;
- Undertaking financial risk assessments; and
- Preparing quarterly financial management reports that fall under his/her section(s).
Job Specification
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-
- Have five (5) years of relevant work experience;
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Commerce (Finance/Accounting Option), Economics, Business Administration/Management, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Have Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Be proficient in computer applications;
- Have undertaken a supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Have demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance; and
- Have fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
