Strengthen communication with Member States by ensuring all required documents for the meetings are updated on time and information on the Governance page is up to date.
Strengthen communication with partners, ensuring the websites’ contents of WWC and ACCP are up to date.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Chief of Governing Bodies Secretariat, the individual contractor will perform the following duties:
  • Support the implementation of communication strategies to reach and engage stakeholders and partners through increased visibility of UN-Habitat’s work and knowledge on the website.
  • Ensure content is accurate, complete, engaging, and rendered correctly.
  • Continuously ensure that the editorial content is up to date.
  • Ensures quality control of content, presentation, and branding, including proofreading and reformatting content; checking links and image sizes; checking for “alt” text and link description; and for adherence to accessibility guidelines;
  • Upload documents, publications, photos, and other media files;
  • Test and provide feedback on new website features, in coordination with the technical team;
  • Apply metadata tags to web content as required;
  • Continuously monitor web performance indicators, flag technical issues, and propose improvements;
  • Assist in developing templates and training documents to facilitate quality content creation and advise staff on their use;
  • Collaborate in developing and implementing web content policy, procedures, and standards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with communication focal points, program managers, and other key internal stakeholders.
  • Support in creating Microsoft meeting links for the Secretariat of Governing Bodies.
  • Update websites’ contents of the African Clean Cities Platform (ACCP) and the Waste Wise Cities (WWC) upon request of the waste management team.
  • Create an Arabic page on the ACCP website.
  • Edit videos of awareness raising, good practices, waste pickers stories, etc.
  • Other requested tasks from the waste management team.

Qualifications/special skills

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, computer science, or equivalent is desirable.
  • A working experience in communication, marketing, computer science, or equivalent is required.
  • 3 years of experience in web/or social media content or marketing is required

Languages

Fluency in oral and written English is required.
