  • Location:     Nairobi with occasional travel
  • Duration:     5 Years’ Contract (Renewable)
  • Gross Salary: Kshs. 281,950

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for strategic leadership of all the Commission’s Public Affairs and Communication to enhance the KNCHR’s corporate image and perception with its stakeholders and partners through the utilization of media relations and engagement, brand visibility, and operationalization of the Commission’s communication strategy.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Oversee the strategic planning of the division’s work plan as per the Commission’s strategic plan and the corporate communication and branding strategy.
  • Direct the implementation of the division’s quarterly, mid-year, and annual work plans in line with the Commission’s strategic plan.
  • Provide leadership in the development of the division’s strategies and policies in support of the implementation of the Commission’s strategic plan.
  • Establish and manage strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders and partners to enhance the Commission’s corporate brand and visibility.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Commission on media relations and engagement.
  • Coordinate the quality control of all the Commission’s publications.
  • Undertake divisional staff performance appraisal

Operational Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Director, of Corporate Services on all matters of Public Affairs and Communications at the head office and regional offices.
  • Oversee the development and adherence to the Commission’s customer service delivery charter
  • Oversee the production of information, education, and communication materials in line with the Commission branding manual.
  • Oversee the adherence to all the division’s standard operating procedures.
  • Provide leadership in the institutional corporate branding and visibility processes.
  • Take the lead in all media engagements.

Skills, Experience, and Minimum Qualifications

  •  Master’s degree in Social Sciences from a recognized institution.
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or related field from a recognized institution 
  •  A postgraduate diploma in journalism or related field.
  •  Eight years of relevant experience in a comparable position from a reputable organization
  •  Member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK)
  •  Strategic Leadership Development course from a recognized Institution lasting not less than 6 weeks
  •  Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal and negotiation skills
  •  Organizational skills 
  •  Ability to work under pressure 
  •  Ability to lead and manage teams 
  •  Problem-solving skills 
  •  Supervisory skills
  •  Coaching and mentorship skills
  •  Meet the requirement of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
