Lodwar Hills Hospital is a private hospital located in Lodwar Turkana County. In the provision of care, the hospital focuses on excelling in the provision of quality and complete care to the people using modern technologies and competent professionals.
To further our quest for the provision of comprehensive and complete care we are seeking to recruit an Optometrist. The optometrist will report to the head of clinical services. The main responsibility of the optometrist will be performing eye examinations to check for vision problems and diseases. The
optometrist will, based on the results prescribe or offer the appropriate advice to the patient while maintaining high standards of quality care.

Responsibilities

• Examine and analyze patients’ eyes to detect vision defects and signs of injury, disease or
  abnormality
• Manage and monitor some eye conditions, either autonomously or alongside other healthcare
  professionals
• Discuss vision-related matters with patients, and offer advice
• Provide treatment such as low vision therapy and visual aids
• Detect signs and symptoms of general health conditions such as diabetes, and glaucoma.
• Promote eye health by counseling patients by explaining the maintenance of the eyewear including
  contact lenses.
• Basic duties associated with tracking patient’s orders and recording purchases and other
  necessary information for each patient
• Preparing work orders for optical laboratory and Lense fitting
• Maintaining displays in line with the hospital’s requirements and clients’ needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Optometry from a recognized institution
• At least two (2) years of experience in a similar position
• Licensed Optometrist with Optometrists’ Association of Kenya
• Proficient in computer applications
• Good communication skills
