Job Purpose

The Well Baby Nurse’s job will be to support maternal health and well-being, identify health and development concerns early, provide intervention and referral when necessary, and deliver health promotion and education programs. The Well Baby/ TB Nurse will also maintain records and monthly TB reports of vaccines as well as issuing TB drugs and screening of patients.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Vaccination using the KEPI and baby-friendly schedule.
• Monitoring the growth and development of babies.
• Carrying out routine screening of vision and hearing.
• Coordinate follow-up medical care.
• Maintaining records and monthly reports of vaccines.
• Perform screening to determine if a patient has TB.
• Issuing TB drugs to TB patients.
• Provide case management of TB cases.
• Provide directly observed therapy (DOT) and directly observed preventive therapy (DOPT) to cases, suspects, and TBI cases.
• Help ensure timely contact tracing for each TB case.
• Adhere to the hospital health and safety policies, guidelines/ protocols (e.g. the use of personal protective clothing/ equipment, fire safety).

Minimum Requirements

• Degree/Diploma in nursing from a reputable institution.
• At least 2 years’ experience in Comprehensive Care Clinic/ Maternal and Child Health.
• Knowledge of the KEPI Schedule
