Community Officer Job UN-Habitat

About the role

  • The Planning, Finance & Economy Section (PFES) is responsible for supporting urban and territorial planning at all scales including through the development of planning policy, norms and guidelines, urban design and public space design, urban finance (municipal finance and urban development/projects finance), and local economic development. The Community Officer will be hired to collaborate closely with the Planning for Humanitarian-Development Practices workstream of PFES. He/she will report to the team lead to deliver the EUTF program. Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the team leads, the Individual Contractor will be responsible for the following duties: Report on logistics and coordination support as a community officer for the EUTF program, including delivering functions such as: organizing refugee and host settlement development groups for activities and consultations, as well as a collection of quotations, petty cash reporting, and preparation with partners for activities conducted

Qualifications/special skills

  • Academic Qualification: A high school diploma is required. Level 6 Diploma or equivalent in Community Development, Development Studies, Information Technology, or a related field is desirable
  • Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in community development, field coordination, and delivery of projects is required. Experience working in Kakuma, Kenya is desirable.

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this advertised position fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Swahili is required.
