Africare Quality Manager- Nursing Services Job

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient outcomes and provide appropriate health care services
  • Perform nursing procedures safely and efficiently
  • Identify priorities and implement care based on individual patients’ needs and sound nursing judgment
  • Implement patient flow process effectively
  • Utilize the standards and procedures of nursing care to continuously improve the quality of nursing and exceed patients’ expectations
  • Participate in quality audits within their departments; addressing identified gaps and concerns
  • Be a role model of the nursing profession and exercise professionalism at all times, ensuring all patients are treated with dignity, privacy, and respect, and are encouraged to be involved in their care
  • Communicate and act as liaison with patients, family, and health professionals in a manner that respects confidentiality and dignity
  • Demonstrate understanding of and adherence to the Company’s infection prevention and control protocols and utilize infection control measures, to provide a safe and suitable environment for patients, staff and visitors etc.
  • Safeguard all confidential information concerning patients’ treatment including their property
  • Investigate patients’ complaints and incidents promptly in accordance with the Company procedures, and submit required reports within the same shift
  • Be knowledgeable of the equipment in the department and to safeguard them from damage, wastage or lose
  • Ensure accurate documentation, proper record keeping, submission to the next level (including MOH) and storage of data for continuity, quality and legal references
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of aseptic principles and techniques to maintain a safe and therapeutic surgical environment and assessment of the patients’ physiological and psychological status before, during and after surgical procedures
  • Provide appropriate health care service including integrated management of childhood Illness (IMCI)
  • Provide Immunization and reproductive health services
  • Perform cancer screening counselling, procedures and results interpretation also follow up
  • Provide health education and counselling to patients/clients and the community on identified health needs
  • Refer patients and clients appropriately and escort them while on transit as necessary
  • Collect, compile and analyze data for decision making, planning and policy making
  • Implement community health strategy with other workers as required
  • Participate in continuing education programs directed towards personal and professional growth and development
  • Utilize available resources effectively to ensure quality service delivery, profitability, and cost-containment
  • Promote good interpersonal relationship amongst the nursing team, patients and other disciplines
  • Participate in professional organization and research activities which support and enhance nursing practice

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Higher National Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Valid practice license from Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Over 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Valid BLS Certification
  • A training in any of the following, Kenya Quality Model for Health (KQMH), Safe Care, Standards Based Management and Recognition (SMB-R) or thorough grasp of healthcare Continuous Quality Improvement.

Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Excellent reporting and presentation skills
  • Proven leadership, communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills
  • Excellent reporting and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in computer Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • A proactive team player with strong customer service and problem-solving skills
