We are looking for an experienced and innovative Procurement Manager to lead our procurement team. He/she will work closely with various departments and stakeholders to ensure a high-performing procurement function. The Procurement Manager will spearhead the purchasing process from selecting suppliers to ensuring stock optimization, as well as provide guidance on sourcing and procurement processes.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Managing overall direction, coordination and evaluation of procurement for the School.
  • Performing all procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management.
  • Identifying areas for improvement to continually drive performance and ensure the School has the resources it needs to operate effectively.
  • Developing procurement strategies and policies that are inventive and cost-effective.
  • Risk management and mitigation through compliance to approved policies and procedures, relevant regulations, standards, and laws.
  • Developing strong relationships with strategic supply partners to improve business.
  • Forecasting to predict future demand for goods, services, and purchase requisitions within budget lines.
  • Submitting weekly and monthly purchase reports for procurement planning.
  • Working closely with finance team to ensure suppliers are paid within the agreement period.
  • Ensuring quarterly stock take and proper reconciliation for audit.
  • Conducting scheduled disposal of items with the Asset Accountant within approved disposal policy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

We expect to recruit a Manager who has strong leadership capabilities, strong communication skills, an aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers, and capable of displaying tact, diplomacy, discretion and integrity.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • At least 3 years proven working experience as a Procurement Manager, Procurement Officer or Head of Procurement.
  • Registered member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management or CIPS, and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing and Supplies Management.
