KNTC Finance Manager Job

Job Purpose

  • Provides leadership, strategic management, and day-to-day management of finance and treasury services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and consolidating the departmental/divisional budgets and expenditure plans and preparing draft reports for management consideration;
  • Coordinating timely preparation of the annual Work Plans, budget estimates, and Medium Term Financial framework of the Corporation;
  • Guiding departmental, divisional, and sectional heads in the management of their budgets through regular provision of reliable date financial information;
  • Interpreting financial policies for sound financial practices and effective implementation of internal controls;
  • Reviewing expenditure returns from departments, preparing variance analysis, and recommending corrective action;
  • Preparing a consolidated budget for the Corporation, participating in the Pre-MTEF sector meetings as well as defending the Corporation’s budget during the Sector Working Group (SWG);
  • Preparing the division’s budget estimates and consolidating the Corporation’s annual budget and Medium Term Financial framework for presentation to the General Manager of Finance & Business Development;
  • Developing, Implementing and monitoring ERP Finance Module and ensuring that all financial transactions are carried out within the Enterprise Resource Planning for effective and efficient service delivery;
  • Undertaking necessary adjustments in the budget as approved by management from time to time;
  • Collating financial and other supporting information to be reported to committees or Senior Managers;
  • Analyzing financial information to assist the Corporation’s profitability and growth;
  • Providing technical support to technical departments during the budget-making and external process;
  • Analyzing the prioritization of activities, projects, and programs within the Corporation for purposes of resource allocation in the budget and preparing draft reports for approval;
  • Consolidating the finance & Treasury division work plans and budgets;
  • Verifying and ensuring that all ledger transactions are correctly posted;
  • Authorizing payment and journal vouchers to ensure proper usage of resources and avoid wastage;
  • Approving monthly bank reconciliations to ensure stewardship of financial resources;
  • Approving all documents within the Corporation which have a financial implication as per the set limits to ensure financial control and prudent utilization of financial resources
  • Maintaining the Corporation’s records and data on budgets, financial reports, assets, and costs, and ensuring the same are secure and properly maintained;

Recognized Qualifications

  • A minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience four (4) of which should have been in a management role in a public or private institution;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Business Management (Accounting/Finance Option), Economics, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
  • A Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized university;
  • Certified Public Accountant CPA (K) certification or its equivalent;
  • Be a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or any other recognized professional body in good standing;
  • Have a certificate in Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Have proficiency in computer application skills:
  • Demonstrated professional competence and administrative capability as reflected in work
  • performance and results; and
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
