Mt Kenya Wholesellers Traders Ltd is an established distribution company of an exclusive range of brands and consumer goods in Yatta Plateau. It serves the Kenyan Wholesale and Retail market– we exist to transform the lives and livelihood of our state of the art Distribution where we book orders digitally from our customers’ store, deliver and receive payment without them visiting our warehouse.

Our credit team is looking for a dynamic and experienced Credit Officer who will be reporting to Operations manager, to immediately come aboard. Your role will entail assessing credit applications, scrutinizing credit risk, and handling credit portfolios.

  • Review credit applications submitted by customers for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of applicants by analyzing financial information, credit reports, and other relevant data.
  • Utilize credit scoring models and tools to make informed credit decisions.
  • Identify and evaluate potential risks associated with extending credit to customers.
  • Recommend appropriate credit limits based on risk assessment.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies and collaborate with the Sales Manager to minimize losses.
  • Communicate credit decisions to customers, providing explanations when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to address customer inquiries and negotiate credit terms when needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of credit applications and customer documents.
  • Prepare and organize documentation related to credit decisions for audit purposes.
  • Monitor the credit performance of existing customers and identify early signs of potential issues.
  • Generate and analyze reports related to credit metrics, delinquencies, and collections.
  • Work closely with the sales, finance, and customer service teams to ensure a seamless and customer-friendly credit process.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to address overdue accounts and implement appropriate recovery strategies.
  • Diploma in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification in Credit Management will be more desirable.
  • Proven two (2) years’ experience as a Credit Officer or similar role in a retail or financial setting.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of credit risk assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superb leadership and teamwork skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in using financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
