Sights & Scenes Assistant Cook Job

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in TALEK MAASAI MARA, for an Assistant Cook. The Assistant Cook will primarily be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes per the established menu, and maintaining high levels of food hygiene and safety in the kitchen. The Assistant Cook will also be expected to assist with ordering supplies and contribute to developing new dishes.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Cook or relevant role in a high-end restaurant, hotel, or catering establishment
  • Diploma or equivalent in culinary arts or related field
  • Working knowledge of traditional and modern cooking methods, including baking, grilling, and sautéing
  • Demonstrable experience in preparing, seasoning, and cooking salads, soups, fish, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs
  • Understanding and adherence to food hygiene, safety regulations, and kitchen procedures
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills
  • Familiarity with a variety of kitchen equipment and tools
  • Passion for cooking and willingness to learn and experiment with new ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques
  • Managing inventory, unloading supplies, and organizing the storeroom
