Koko Networks Market Research Lead Job

  • The MR Lead in Rwanda will play an integral role in developing MR capacity in Rwanda. With the support of a small team in Nairobi, Kenya, he/she executes the market research strategy and ensures excellent output for the company stakeholders. Core to the role is to drive market research studies end to end; from initial design of approach and methodology, to execution, analysis, and final reporting. You will serve as a champion for the voice of our customers and agents, helping to bring clarity around
  • their behaviors and preferences through rigorous qualitative and quantitative research, surveys, and in-depth analysis. Unique to this position is the need to be an autonomous self-starter. You will act as the sole MR representative in Rwanda, and will work together with local research partners and self- recruited & managed enumerators. In your role you will work closely together with the commercial and operating teams in Rwanda, your line manager is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate all MR initiatives in Rwanda

  • Implement all Rwanda oriented customer and market research projects and initiatives
  • Engage with local consultants and enumerators to drive projects and the strategic (MR) agenda
  • End-to-end delivery of research projects
  • Timely and thorough communication with the MR team in Kenya

Represent the team and drive the MR agenda in Rwanda

  • Act as the MR interface with the team in Rwanda
  • Work alongside the MR manager to develop, and execute, the strategic & tactical agenda
  • Build interpersonal relations
  • Jointly develop and drive the agenda of MR initiatives in Rwanda

Design Proposals

  • Able to understand requirements and translate them into proposals based on limited information
  • Develop proposals detailing purpose of the study
  • Research Proposals
  • Develop in-depth

MR insights & reports

  • Design and lead in-depth customer & market focused research efforts using both quan. & qual. techniques
  • Collect and analyze customer and market data for trends, patterns, and insights
  • Respond to inbound research and insight requests
  • Select or design appropriate research methods to deliver quality insights
  • Translate data (input) into insights (output) and make it presentable

Foster the use of big) data insights

  • Ability to work alongside our data, analytics, and GIS (mapping) departments
  • A moderate understanding of data is required for thorough (quantitative) analysis
  • Perform (simple) data analysis on self-collected data and/or existing databases

Reporting and presentation of insights & results

  • Data and study results need to be made insightful and relevant to become applicable to internal & external stakeholders and departments
  • Producing insightful presentations that go beyond dry reporting of data and results, and suit the audience

Qualifications

Personal profile

  • Purpose driven and passionate about (socio-economic) development. Eager to contribute to developing Africa through commercial initiatives with a social impact
  • Comfortable with the dynamics of a fast-paced, growth-stage startup environment. Willing to work extended hours and demonstrate flexibility. Able to adapt to an ever changing environment

Areas of expertise

  • Customer assessments & Market intelligence -studies. Experience with developing, coordinating, and concluding customer and market studies. Able to drive studies that can be both Qualitative and Quantitative in nature

Experience

  • Data, business intelligence, and statistical- tools and platforms. Theoretical background on statistics and data manipulation, and hands-on experience with industry-standard platforms (e.g. Excel, Google Suite, SPSS, R, Stata, Domo, Looker, etc…)
  • Hands-on (field) research experience. Demonstrated to be able to self-collect data in the field, both quantitative data as well as qualitative insights
  • Project and product -management. Proven ability to drive field projects end to end. Able to operate agile with lean on resources

  • Bachelor degree from an academic university. Basic understanding of statistics and research is required
  • Academic Research Master with qualifications or a specialization in Statistics, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and alike is preferred
  • 3+ years + of work experience in a research related role
  • 3+ years of work experience in a MR related role, experienced with managing teams is preferred
  • Familiar with modern business solutions and software /tech enabled industries
  • Experienced with renewable energy (cooking fuel) and/or FMCG industry is preferred
  • English and Kinyarwanda proficiency
