Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the trial Principal Investigators (PIs) and the site Study Coordinator to set up and execute a clinical trial [one position is for a phase 2 clinical trial of a novel antimalaria monoclonal antibody in Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital;
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the study designs and goals, and ensure that study is conducted in compliance with study protocols and other regulatory requirements;
  • Supervise clinical personnel at Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital;
  • Identify and document adverse events and serious adverse events and report to PIs and study pediatrician;
  • Provide written reports on serious adverse events within the required time period, following GCP practices;
  • Provide medical advice and respond to clinical queries from the study staff, and to questions about the study posed by participants and others;
  • Make diagnoses and decisions to admit patients according to study protocol;
  • Conduct regular reviews of clinical trial database records to ensure accurate data entry by all study staff;
  • Report problems encountered in the field to the Principal Investigator or other designated personnel;
  • Conduct CMEs at the hospital and lead discussions with the clinical and nursing personnel.

Vacancy Requirements:

  • At least one (1) year post-internship experience in a in a busy medical or paediatric department;    Mandatory
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognized Institution;    Mandatory
  • Registration with KMPDB and in possession of a valid practicing license;    Mandatory
  • Experience in a clinical research setup will be an added advantage.    Added Advantage
  • Ability to prioritize own workload and balance conflicting demands.    Mandatory
  • Ability to lead and work within a team environment and in a diverse cultural environment in a rural, resource-limited hospital.    Mandatory
  • Flexibility to work extra hours including weekends and public holidays.    Mandatory
  • Work in a professional and ethical manner with competence, accountability and integrity.    Mandatory
  • GCP certification will be an added advantage    Mandatory
  • Received training in Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment (ETAT+) course.    Mandatory
