Responsibilities

Field Operations Law Enforcement

  • Support Law enforcement officer and his team to ensure law enforcement challenges are solved amicably and in good time
  • Maintain relationships with the government agencies relevant to law enforcement- KFS, KWS, Police, and Courts
  • Lead (as directed by CEO) negotiations for complex forest protection arrangements with government bodies and other stakeholders
  • Ensure necessary logistic support is in place to enable LE function
  • Ensure LE teams are adequately trained
  • Law enforcement database management, and training of LE officer and his key team members in database management
  • Participate in forest protection strategy meetings
  • Ensure purchase of all necessary equipment for law enforcement teams
  • Wildlife monitoring
  • Develop scientific wildlife and ecological monitoring protocols Implement wildlife monitoring programmes
  • Ensure monitoring data are analysed and reports submitted

Infrastructure

  • In charge of overseeing all infrastructure developments and maintenance in the forest as well as the periphery as annual plans
  • In charge of overseeing all budgetary and cost control in regards to infrastructure development and maintenance
  • In charge of overseeing all tender calls as well as contractor executions in regard to infrastructure developments and maintenance per annual plans

Fleet Management

  • In charge of overseeing all fleet management, which includes licenses, permits, services, fuel, oil management, spares stock, safety, operation procedures (SOPs), and technical upgrades
  • Managing the renewal of insurance for vehicles and motorcycles
  • Tracking of vehicles on the trail my car for safety purposes
  • Promote a culture of safety in the fleet management team

Community Projects

  • Principal coordinator for FoASF community projects
  • Monitor and progress and ensure goals and objectives are being met as per annual plans
  • Establishment and management of agreements and budgets of community projects Manage Community outreach programme and mentor outreach assistant

⁠Fundraising

  • Support CEO in fundraising activities and donor communication Support events organisations

Administration

  • Accounting
  • Manage assigned budgets and make sure expenses are within planned budgets Comply with all monthly reporting requirements to the accountant
  • Control of login and password details (TIMS, NTSA, ecitizen, etc.)
  • Human Resources
  • Manage recruitment of new employees by producing job descriptions/ contracts and supervising interviews
  • Ensure FoASF workplace complies with the Kenyan Labor requirements
