Our Client is a corporate holding comprising of six member companies, in Construction, Trading House, Manufacturing, IT, Real estate and Integrated Health. They are seeking to hire a Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Deputy CEO) for the Real Estate Company. He/She will be responsible for assisting the CEO in the overall strategic and operational management of the company. The Deputy CEO will oversee day-to-day operations, drive business growth, and implement policies and programs to achieve the company’s objectives. This role involves collaborating with various departments, ensuring the efficiency of business operations, and providing leadership to foster a high-performance culture. The Deputy CEO will also lead efforts in leveraging technology, enhancing sales and marketing strategies, and building strategic partnerships to expand the company’s reach and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Support

  • Assist the Chairman in the development and implementation of the group’s strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions and ensure the execution of action plans across subsidiaries.
  • Provide analytical support and insights to aid in decision-making and policy formulation.

Operational Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Chairman’s office, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate with subsidiary leadership teams to ensure alignment with group-wide goals.
  • Manage special projects and initiatives as directed by the Chairman.

Communication and Liaison

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Chairman and subsidiary executives.
  • Ensure effective communication of priorities, objectives, and policies across the organization.
  • Prepare briefing materials, reports, and presentations for the Chairman.

Project Management

  • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives that involve multiple subsidiaries.
  • Monitor progress and performance of key projects, ensuring timely completion and quality outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and challenges related to project execution.
  • Leadership and Team Development
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the Chairman’s office and across the group.
  • Mentor and develop staff members, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support talent management efforts, including recruitment and development of key personnel.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including investors, partners, and government entities.
  • Represent the Chairman in meetings and events as required.
  • Facilitate the organization of board meetings, executive retreats, and other key events
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, partners, clients, and government entities.
  • Lead negotiations and manage strategic partnerships and alliances.

Financial Oversight

  • Work with the finance team to ensure sound financial management and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks to protect the company’s assets.
  • Leadership and Team Development
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Mentor and develop the leadership team, promoting a culture of accountability and empowerment.
  • Oversee talent management, including recruitment, retention, and succession planning.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Implement risk management strategies to safeguard the company’s reputation and assets.
  • Monitor and address any compliance or operational issues promptly.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Marketing, Technology, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in real estate development, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Experience in East Africa Market
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale real estate projects and driving business growth.
  • Experience in strategic planning, operational management, and financial oversight.
  • Experience with technology-driven initiatives and digital transformation in real estate.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a focus on results and innovation.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of the Ethiopian real estate market and regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in sales and marketing strategies, campaign management, and partnership development.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, risk management, and technology applications in real estate.
