SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR GRADE 9 Ref: TUN/AD/72/09/24

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate, perform, and monitor data Provide guidance and procedures in systems installation, configuration, and maintenance of university servers.
• Ensure ICT security (such as using firewalls).
• Plan, install, and maintain university servers.
• Install and maintain data communication infrastructure and services.
• Provide systems administration services for university servers.
• Install, configure, optimize, and maintain the internet and intranet.
• Undertake Database Administration, including database design and development.
• Plan, implement, and maintain university corporate databases and information systems.
• Evaluate, install, test, and configure university databases.
• Ensure database security.
• Perform database and mail backups, monitoring, tuning, and data recovery.
• Facilitate information systems developers with database issues.
• Install and maintain database and mail servers.

Academic /professional requirements
For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have:

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution
• Demonstrate experience with networks and ICT systems e.g ERP
• Possession of applicable qualifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, C-Sharp, Python or its equivalent will be an added advantage
