Compliance and Licensing Officer – Alcoholic Drinks Control Unit Job County Government of Nandi
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Licensing Management: Oversee the issuance, renewal, and revocation of licenses for alcoholic drinks establishments.
- Enforcement of Laws: Ensure compliance with the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct routine inspections of licensed premises to ensure adherence to licensing conditions and standards.
- Compliance Monitoring: Investigate reports of non-compliance and recommend appropriate action, including penalties or revocation of licenses.
- Public Awareness and Education: Provide guidance to stakeholders on the requirements for compliance with alcohol control laws.
- Report Preparation: Compile reports on licensing activities, compliance rates, and any enforcement actions taken.
- Collaboration: Work closely with law enforcement, public health officials, and local authorities in enforcing alcohol control laws.
Requirements for appointment;
- Be a Kenyan Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Knowledge of the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act and other relevant Kenyan legislation is an added advantage
- Knowledge in regulatory compliance and licensing processes.
- Understanding of public health and safety regulations concerning alcohol.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience in compliance, regulation, or licensing.
- Experience working with government regulatory bodies or in a law enforcement capacity is an advantage.
- Previous experience in alcohol control, public health, or related sectors is desirable.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan alcoholic drinks regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to enforce regulations fairly and impartially.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive cases with discretion.
