Eleven Degrees Consulting Ltd, on behalf of an internal client, an ICT infrastructure firm specializing in fiber optic network solutions, BTS, CCTV, Solar and related installations & maintenance, wishes to fill the vacant position of CCTV Technician on Fixed Term.
Contract Basis to be based in Nairobi, Kangundo Road but with field assignments across the country and within East Africa as when and if projects roll out.
Position Summary
Reporting to the CCTV Engineer (Project Manager), the position holder will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV surveillance systems. This role ensures proper connectivity, functionality, and optimization of security camera networks. The technician will work closely with engineers and other security personnel to maintain system efficiency and compliance with security standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Installation and Configuration
- Install and configure IP and analog CCTV cameras, NVRs, and DVRs.
- Lay and terminate fiber optic, coaxial, and Ethernet cables for transmission.
- Assist in setting up wireless links and remote monitoring systems.
- Perform site surveys and recommend improvements in camera placement and coverage.
Maintenance, Repairs, and Safety
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on surveillance equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols during installations and maintenance.
- Work with engineers to optimize surveillance network performance.
Troubleshooting and System Optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to camera feeds, power supply, and connectivity
- Work with engineers to optimize video quality and system performance.
Reports & Reporting
- Document incidents, system downtimes, and troubleshooting activities.
- Provide regular reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and equipment status.
Academic and professional Qualifications and experience required
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Security Systems or a related technical field.
- Certification in CCTV installation, networking, or security systems is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge CCTV technologies and security protocols (IP-based surveillance systems, NVR/DVR configurations, and cabling).
- Knowledge of fiber optic splicing, wireless transmission, and structured cabling.
- Knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP and wireless communication.
- Familiarity with power backup systems (UPS, solar power) for CCTV setups
- Hands-on experience with at least 2+ years of experience in CCTV installation and maintenance. (IP and analog CCTV systems, including Hikvision, Huawei and Dahua)
- Experience in working with fiber optics, coaxial, and Ethernet networks.
