I’m Going To Be Laid Off

Getting laid off is the greatest fear in every employee. When this happens, you are caught off guard with no other job to depend on and sometimes many do not know where to start off. 

This employee is in a similar situation.

Dear HR Lady,

There are rumors going round that a layoff may be happening soon. Managers in our company are always in closed door meetings and then when asked what the meeting was about, they can’t look at us in the eye and make some lame excuse. So we’re pretty sure the layoffs are coming sooner rather than later.

What should I do when I officially find out? I mean, besides get a new job. How should I react? Should I threaten to sue? Weep? Demand to speak to a higher up?
