Roles for Chief Natural Resource Officer Job

  • Assist in the development of work-plans and budgets
  • Provide technical guidance regarding data and information gathering for the development of a land based natural resources inventory for the country.
  • Assist in establishing stakeholder linkages for the sustainable management of the country’s natural resources.
  • Support and assist in the development of bankable proposals for natural resource conservation and related resource mobilization programmes for the directorate.
  • Assist in tracking the implementation and reporting of various environmental and natural resources multilateral agreements (MEAs)
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop and update the information sharing framework for natural resource management.
  • Assist in enhancing stakeholder linkages and coordination.
  • Assist in responding to diverse stakeholder issues and inquiries.
  • Facilitate the development of a natural resource information sharing framework
  • Coordinate documentation and reporting in the directorate

Chief Natural Resource Officer Job Requirements

For Appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Natural Resources Management, Biological Sciences, Forestry, Environmental Sciences, urban or regional planning or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution. Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Served in Natural Resources Management position in the public or private sector for at least six (6) years, three (3) of which must have been at a senior management level.
  • Have undertaken a Senior Management Course form a recognized institution.
  • Proven application of remote sensing and GIS applications in natural resources assessments and environmental management
  • Proven skills in natural resources/environmental monitoring and assessments
  • Effective stakeholder and resources mobilization skills
  • Excellent Report writing and communication skills
