Job Summary

Development, implementation and maintenance of inspection techniques.

Responsibilities for the Inspection Technology Manager Job

  • Planning, organizing and coordinating technical inspection activities to support enforcement of tax and border control policies.
  • Providing inspection and technical advisory service to support compliance management and interdiction operations.
  • Assessing technical needs for development of technical inspections capacity.
  • Preparing and recommending inspection technology operations budget, and management of inspection technology resources.
  • Developing and implementing annual procurement plan and ensuring availability of equipment, supplies and services.
  • Evaluating staff performance through the review of completed work assignments and initiatives, and developing staff skills.
  • Developing and implementing quality management procedures to ensure quality of service delivery and safety of work environment.
  • Liaising with relevant agencies and organizations on matters related to inspection and interdiction techniques.
  • Preparing technical and management reports; providing expert testimony regarding application of inspection techniques and findings.
  • Performing such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications for the Inspection Technology Manager Job

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, physics or related field.
  • Masters degree will be an added advantage.
  • At least twelve (12) years relevant experience with three (3) years at assistant manager or equivalent level.
  • Skills required Sound knowledge of principles of sciences applied inspection and interdictions technologies.
  • Good knowledge and experience in a variety interdiction and investigation tools.
  • Proactive with good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan and schedule own work and that of direct reportees.
  • Ability to plan, organize and oversee unit operations and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Excellent numeracy and data analytical skills.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Excellent supervisory skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work collaboratively with others.
