Hours of Work: 40 hours a week,
Responsible to: Alumni Relations Manager
Relationships and working contacts:
Internal: Program Managers, Faculty, SBS Alumni Relations Office, University Council
External: Alumni Council, Executive Committee, Alumni, Public

Work Environment

This is an office based role Willingness and ability to work in the evening and or weekend when necessary. There may be some travel when necessary

Job Purpose

This position will facilitate event conceptualization, logistics and implementation across the business school and is responsible for obtaining substantial sponsorships for events.

Sponsorship & Events Coordinator Job Responsibilities

Business development & Sponsorship management

  • Identity strategic sponsors to obtain substantial sponsorship to our events. Manage their expectations during the events.

Develop and Execute Creative Alumni Events Concepts

  • In consultation with the Executive Director, Alumni Relations, develop a riveting annual events calendar for alumni including year groups, class groups, annual alumni reunions, getaways, golf tournaments, Endowment
  • Fund events; locally, regionally & internationally, among others.
  • Closely liaising with the quality assurance team to incorporate visiting professors schedules and program schedules for better planning.

Manage Social Media and Alumni Website

  • Together with the Communications team, develop stories around the events for publishing in the alumni website and our social media platforms.

Foster relationships with Faculty, Program Administrators and Class Councils

  • Closely Interact on a weekly basis, with faculty, program administrators and class councils of respective programs to keep abreast of goings-on in the business school’s current programs

Requirements for the Sponsorship & Events Coordinator Job

  • Educated to a degree level from a recognised university
  • At least three years of relevant experience working in a sales or marketing environment
  • Significant experience in client relations, managing events, public relations or similar role
  • Experience of devising a events strategy and/or sponsorship plan
  • Management experience, including leadership skills to inspire a team, and support and develop individuals
  • Budgetary management experience of delivering high-quality events and communications within a wider strategic framework
