4 Tips On How To Write An IT Cover Letter Plus Free Sample

A cover letter is very important when it comes to job search. In most cases a cover letter can determine whether your CV is looked at or not. Therefore, it is important to ensure the cover letter is done well.

Here is how to go about writing a Sample Cover Letter for IT Jobs

1. Address it to the Hiring Manager

It is very important that when you are writing your cover letter, you address it to the person who will receive it by name if possible. Before applying for the job try finding out who will receive your application.

Ensure that you use their last name when addressing them and not their first name.

By doing this you will show the hiring manager that you were truly interested in the position and as such took time to do some research as opposed to using the generic Dear Sir/Madam salutation. Also, people like being referred to by their name.

So for example instead of using Dear Sir/Madam use something like Dear Wanjiku.

2. Tailor your cover letter to your industry

Even though you are in IT, it doesn’t mean that every IT position you apply for will be the same. Different companies have different job descriptions for every position.

Therefore, when you are applying for an IT assistant position in different companies, your cover Letter for the jobs should be somewhat different.

Remember, a cover letter is used to show the hiring manager that you are indeed the best candidate for the position. Therefore, your Cover Letter should show that you have the skills required in the job description.

It is then obvious that you cannot use the same Cover letter for every IT job you apply for.

3. Show that you can add value to the Company

Organisations do not hire people in order to help them. They do it so that the company itself can benefit from having good talent.

Therefore, the trick to you getting a job is ensuring that in your cover letter you clearly show that you will be an asset to the company. Your IT cover letter needs to show that you are indeed valuable to the company.

So, instead on focusing on how much the job will benefit you, focus on how the company will benefit by hiring you.

4. Be Passionate

When writing your cover letter for IT Jobs it is important that you show that you truly are passionate about the position.

By showing you are passionate about the position, you can convince the hiring manager that you will do your best to succeed in the position.
