Tips On How To Reschedule An Interview

1. Provide as much notice period as possible

Timing is one of the most important aspects when rescheduling a job interview. Recruiters spend a lot of time scheduling job interviews into part of their plans. It is therefore only important that you respect their time and do not inform them at the last minute.

Your prior notice will enable the recruiter to be flexible to pick a date and time for rescheduling the interview. They can also slot someone else in your place, and save on time.

2. Share Your Reasons

When communicating your inability to attend the scheduled interview to the recruiter, do not leave them hanging – give them your reasons. your reason should be a genuine one. In explaining your situation, a recruiter is more likely to be willing to reschedule the interview.

After explaining the situation, apologize to the recruiter for not attending the interview and express your gratitude for their consideration regarding your candidature.

3. Suggest a new date

As you ask to reschedule the job interview, you can also suggest a new date. Remember to ask politely and respectfully.

However, if the recruiter responds to your request with a date that works for them, try and fit in within their schedule. Be as flexible as possible and try to accommodate their schedule without being demanding.
