Position Summary

The Neurologist coordinates and provides specialized neurological services and participate in research in the area of specialization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex medical problems by referring to a patient’s history, examining them and conducting neurological tests.
  • Counsel patients on neurological disorders and its background.
  • Order neurological tests and interpret the results of neuroimaging studies.
  • Prescribe and/or administer treatment and medication.
  • Monitor the behavioral and cognitive side effects of treatment and medication.
  • Order supportive care services for patients.
  • Perform and interpret electroencephalography, electromyography and nerve conduction velocity tests.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
  • Master of Medicine in internal medicine from a recognized institution.
  • Fellowship in Neurology from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.
  • Valid Practice License.
  • Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • iAt least one (1) year working experience as a Neurologist in a busy hospital
