Job Title: Advanced Learning Trainer – (Web Development, Data Science, Python)

Our Client is a Technology Training Institution based in Nairobi Kenya serving Clients across the Country. They seek to hire an Advanced Learning Trainer who will be responsible for empowering youth through conducting end-to-end Training, Mentorship, and Work Linkages for Python, Data Science, and Web Development Modules, fostering skill development, and facilitating practical experiences for optimal learning outcomes. 

The Trainer will be the resource point for the use of the online platforms provided and how youth can register for, undertake, get paid for, and succeed with direct Digital and Digitally Enabled Jobs through training and exposure. The Trainer is also responsible for the delivery of the user manuals and user guides. As the Curriculum content is upgraded, the Trainer will also review and master course content and written materials to reflect the upgrades and pass those on to Learners. The Trainer evaluates the effectiveness of the training programs, using surveys, questionnaires, interviews, and observation, to plan future courses or to amend existing ones.

Responsibilities 

Mobilization and Training

• Mastering the Content and Curriculum and planning lessons to Train Diverse Youth effectively.
• Mobilizing through communities and other avenues to invite Youth to benefit from the free Training e.g. through pitches, activations or exhibitions.
• Organizing and delivering quality Training both Virtual and Physical and ensuring an 80% completion rate for registered Youth undertaking the Training.
• Planning and Researching Training scope accordingly and understanding the audience needs during Training.
• Developing relatable examples and case study material for use to make training useful and exciting.
• Assessing objectively, against pre-set criteria, the skill levels of the learners as appropriate.
• Overseeing the learners in performing practical activities related to Online work, advising and assisting where necessary, and ensuring that maximum learning benefit is gained from the practical experience.
• Ensuring good attendance tracking and providing daily reports on each Training session by marking attendance as per reporting template.
• Assess individual and group Training needs and provide recommendations.
• Adapt delivery of course material to meet the needs of the learners
• Conduct Training of Trainers (ToTs).

Mentorship and Work Linkages

• Conduct mentorship for each trained cohort as per the mentorship guidelines.
• Assess the level of skill acquisition of the mentees.
• Ensure active participation of all the mentees in the mentorship sessions.
• Submit weekly reports on the progress of each cohort being mentored.
• Organize and coordinate job linkage webinars for the trainees.
• Link the trainees/mentees with work opportunities.
• Report on impact stories from the trainees.

Technical Skills required

Python Programming Mastery:

• Design and deliver comprehensive training programs on Python programming, emphasizing real-life application development.
• Guide learners through the creation of diverse projects, from database-driven web applications to advanced web scraping techniques.

Data Science Expertise:

• Develop and conduct training sessions covering the entire spectrum of Data Science, including data analysis, visualization, and machine learning.
• Equip learners with the skills to translate data into actionable insights and solutions.
• Machine Learning: Lead hands-on sessions to teach the principles of machine learning, from basic concepts to advanced algorithms.
• Foster a deep understanding of the practical applications of machine learning in real-world scenarios.

Web Development Proficiency:

• Instruct on various aspects of web development, spanning front-end and back-end technologies.
• Guide learners in building responsive and feature-rich web applications.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education – Degree from a recognized University.
• Must have ICT skills and certifications.
• Proven expertise in Python programming with a focus on practical applications.
• Extensive experience in Data Science, covering data manipulation, analysis, and machine learning.
• Proficiency in web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like Flask or Django.
• Previous experience as a trainer or instructor in a professional or educational setting.
• Demonstrated experience undertaking Online Work will be an advantage.
