Job Objective/Purpose

Maintenance of hospital equipment and machinery to ensure functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• To carry out installation, maintenance, inspection & testing, fault finding, and repairs of all biomedical equipment.
• To carry out the preparation and operation of a scheduled preventative maintenance system for biomedical and other medical equipment.
• To conduct checks, updates, and reports of critical supplies of oxygen, medical gases, and vacuum as required.
• To conduct checks, updates, and reports of critical equipment as required.
• Carry out departmental audits and implementation of Quality Improvement Plans.
• Identify gaps and risks in biomedical equipment and share them with the Hospital Manager for implementation
• Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of medical equipment, report, and implement recommendations.
• Advise the Hospital Management on planning the acquisition and use of medical equipment.
• To assist in the preparation of reports on equipment performance and cost analysis for renewal or renovation of equipment.
• Liaise with and train medical staff on the use of medical equipment.
• Maintain functionality and accuracy of calibration equipment through an established planned preventative maintenance (PPM) program.
• Provide bio-medical technical support to staff and contractors when required.
• Plan, supervise, and carry out improvements and alterations on equipment as required.
• Repair and maintenance of biomedical equipment from other Avenue facilities as specified by your supervisor.
• To keep abreast of new developments and acquire new skills & knowledge to maintain a high level of service.
• Maintain client/patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
• Ensure that avenue corporate governance policies are adhered to.
  • Prevent, detect, and report any fraud or criminal activity
  • Fully review and ensure implementation of audit recommendations
• Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor in line with the job description.

Personal Specifications

• A Higher National Diploma in biomedical engineering and, biomedical science, the degree will be an added advantage.
• 3 years working experience in a similar position
• Well-versed with the following machine mechanisms Ventilation, Neurology, Electrosurgical equipment
• Be familiar with hospital equipment
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
