Location: Keria Market “Meru County” (1 post),

The Option One Distributors (East Africa) Limited is seeking to hire an accountant to be based in Meru County.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements;
  • Record and classify financial transactions, including sales, purchases, expenses, and inventory movements;
  • Prepare budgets and financial forecasts to help the company plan for future expenses, sales, and profits;
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide recommendations for cost control and revenue optimization;
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing carrying costs.
  • Track and control operating expenses, seeking ways to reduce costs and improve profitability;
  • Evaluate supplier pricing, terms, and credit agreements to optimize purchasing decisions;
  • Generate financial reports and statements for management and stakeholders to assess the company’s financial health;
  • Prepare financial reports for tax purposes and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations;
  • Calculate and file various tax returns, including VAT, income tax and withholding tax;
  • Keep abreast of tax regulations and changes that may impact the business;
  • Assist with internal or external audits by providing financial documentation and explanations as required;
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement;
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management for strategic decision-making;
  • Monitor cash flow, ensuring there is enough liquidity to cover operating expenses and investments;
  • Manage receivables and payables to optimize cash flow;
  • Utilize accounting software and financial management systems to streamline processes and improve accuracy;
  • Stay updated on technological advancements in accounting tools;
  • Ensure ethical and responsible financial practices, including safeguarding financial data and preventing fraud;
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant financial laws and regulations; and
  • Collaborate with management to develop financial strategies and long-term plans to achieve business goals.

Key Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in either Accounting/ Finance/Economics will be an added advantage; 
  • CPA III Qualification or its equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in an accounting role within a busy work environment
  • Advanced Excel knowledge is MANDATORY
