Duties and Responsibilities

The major roles of the Committee shall be to:

  • Provide oversight and support on risk management, controls and governance processes, and other associated assurances
  • Follow up on the implementation of the recommendations of internal and external auditors
  • Facilitate the disposal of all PAC/PIC recommendations

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, one must;

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Be a member of a recognized professional body in good professional standing
  • Possess at least an undergraduate degree from a recognized university in the field in which she or he has been practicing
  • Have progressive work experience of not less than ten years of expertise in audit, financial management, risk management, or accounting
  • Not be a past or present employee of the County Government of Bungoma or its entities, and shall not have served as an employee or agent of a business organization that has carried out any business with the County Government of Bungoma in the last two years
  • Possess a good understanding of the county government’s operations, financial reporting, and auditing
  • Have a good understanding of the objects, principles, and functions of a devolved system of government
  • Demonstrate the requisite business and leadership skills
  • Not be a holder of a political office.

Terms of Service

  • Members of the Audit Committee shall serve on a Part-Time Basis for three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further one term only, subject to performance
  • Article ‘a’ above notwithstanding, after the expiry of every term, at least one-third of the committee shall retire and shall not be eligible for re-appointment
  • Members will be entitled to allowances as shall be determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Committee(SRC)
