Kenya Airways Stock Accountant Job

Brief Description        

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that there is accurate and timely recording of transactions involving stock such as Goods receipting, goods issuing, inventory counts, stock ageing reports, inventory costing, tracking of Goods in Transit, tracking, and updating consignment stocks, stock variances explanations and adjustments, and stock GL reconciliations, whilst ensuring adherence to agreed SLAs and internal controls.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock ledgers and journals.
  • Monthly reconciliation of stock records
  • Ensuring that Goods in Transit and KQ consignment stock held by others are accurately recorded, tracked, and reconciled.
  • Plan and coordinates stock count exercises as per company policy and investigate and resolves the stock variances promptly (if any).
  • Analyze variances in stock-related expenses and recommend corrective actions.
  • Preparation of inventory reports for management use such as stock ageing report, obsolete/damaged /expired stocks reports, slow moving stocks report and stock movement reports.
  • Generate regular reports on stock levels, stock turnover, and variances.
  • Provide insightful analysis and recommendations for improving stock management efficiency.
  • Preparations of stock adjustments journals for final posting by GL accountant.
  • Proper costing of inventory in accordance with applicable IFRS/IASs.
  • Assist in internal and external audits related to stock and inventory.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop accurate stock forecasts based on historical data and future business plans.
  • Be fully in-charge of the subsidiary financial reporting including monthly GL reconciliations, management reports and preparation of annual financial statements.

Job Requirements        

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or any other business-related field from a recognized institution.
  • Must possess accounting qualification i.e. full ACCA/CPA Qualifications.
  • At least four (4) years of proven experience in stock accounting or a similar role, preferably within the airline or aviation industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and inventory management best practices.
  • Proficiency in relevant accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
