Sunsam Foods Limited is seeking a proactive and driven Business Development Manager (Poultry Value Chain) to spearhead the marketing and client acquisition efforts for our high-quality poultry products. The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding our market presence, building strong client relationships, and driving sales growth within the poultry products trading industry in Kenya.

  • Business Development Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to promote Sunsam Foods’ range of poultry products and achieve significant market penetration in Kenya.
  • Client Acquisition: Identify and engage potential clients, including restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, and food processing companies. Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers to secure new business partnerships and expand our customer base.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and competitor strategies within the poultry products industry in Kenya. Utilize market insights to refine product positioning and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Product Promotion: Devise and implement effective marketing initiatives to showcase the quality and value of Sunsam Foods’ poultry products. This may involve participating in industry events, organizing product demonstrations, and leveraging digital marketing channels to raise brand awareness.
  • Negotiation and Contract Management: Lead negotiations with clients to finalize agreements on pricing, delivery terms, and product specifications. Ensure that contracts align with the company’s profitability and quality standards.
  • Partnership Development: Identify potential strategic partners, such as poultry suppliers, logistics providers, and industry associations, to enhance our supply chain efficiency and market reach.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction, repeat business, and referrals. Proactively address any client concerns and act as a trusted advisor to support their poultry product sourcing needs.
  • Reporting and Forecasting: Prepare regular reports on sales performance, customer feedback, and market trends. Utilize data-driven insights to forecast sales projections and refine business development strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Agribusiness, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in business development, sales, or marketing roles within the food industry, ideally with a focus on poultry or related products.
  • Sound understanding of the poultry products market in Kenya, including knowledge of consumer preferences, distribution channels, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients, negotiate contracts, and build strategic partnerships.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen to develop and execute successful business development strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in market research, data analysis, and forecasting techniques to drive informed decision-making.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently without compromising attention to detail and quality.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality standards relevant to poultry products, including HACCP and other industry certifications, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with distribution channels and logistics considerations within the food industry.
  • Proven experience in expanding market presence and customer base in the Kenyan food market is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, including CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital marketing tools.
