The Kenya BioVax Institute Human Resource Officer Job

Job Purpose:

Implement Human resource functions and processes as guided by the Human Resource Policies and Procedures Manuals and Labour laws to ensure effective and efficient achievement of human resource objectives towards the realization of the Institute’s strategic plan.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: – Human Resource Management/ Development or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; OR Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: – Economics; Sociology; Business Administration; Public Administration; Commerce with Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management/Development or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) or Kenya Institute of Administration; and
  • Fulfil chapter six (6) of the constitution.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and updates contract renewal, evaluation and probation management for confirmation to the position after satisfactory performance;
  • Manage and process human resource matters such as appointments, contract renewal, promotions, employees exit, confirmation of appointment after successful probation performance and processing of leave applications within existing rules, regulations and procedures;
  • Compile reports on the implementation of the performance management systems including performance appraisal; Prepare monthly payroll and ensure regulatory and legislative compliance;
  • Maintaining and providing performance appraisal reports to line managers for informed decision making;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual training reports for submission to the necessary authorities and Government ministries to inform various training decisions;
  • Facilitate timely settlement of full and final salary and gratuity for contract employees to ensure smooth exit process from the Institute;
  • Provide guidance to line managers in respect of handling disciplinary issues in accordance to existing Human resource regulations;
  • Maintain records of staff training and development programs for the Institute;
  • Capturing and updating payroll and compliment data;
  • Verify Pay Change Advices (PCA) for various transactions such as  processing of salary adjustments and changes pertaining to staff earning for information;
  • Carrying out authentication of academic and professional certificates of new employees joining the Institute; an
  •  Participate in recruitment and selection process.
