Requirements for Appointment

  • A Kenyan citizen;
  • Holder of Bachelors of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university;
  • Hold Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Council of Legal Education;
  • Master’s degree in law or any other social science from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
  • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya for at least three (3) years and having a current practicing certificate;
  • Must be a member of the Law society of Kenya (LSK);
  • Must meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010;
  • Experience in legislative drafting from a reputable institution;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Possess legal research skills.

The duties and responsibilities include: –
Key duties to be performed include:

  • Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for and on behalf of the county executive
  • Formulate and review of county laws in consultation with the relevant body;
  • Prepare legal opinion to County Executive on legislative and other legal matters;
  • Prepare cabinet memoranda;
  • Support in drafting and Publication of legislative proposals for the County Government
  • Initiating and undertaking research on emerging legal issues and preparing Legal opinions and briefs;
  • Shall, on the instructions of the county attorney, represent the county executive in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a party, other than criminal proceedings;
  • Perform any other duties that may be delegated by the County Attorney.

  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) Compliance certificate;
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) self-declaration form;
  • Certificate of Good Conduct;
  • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) certificate
