Our client is an exporter and distributor of fresh vegetables, fruits, and horticultural crops from Kenya. They seek to hire an experienced Sales and Marketing Manager who will be responsible for actively seeking out prospects, customer service, pursuing sales opportunities, and meeting sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development- Export and Local.
  • Proactively create additional sales with new and existing customers.
  • Meet planned sales goals.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all sales customers.
  • Provide superior customer service to new and existing customers.
  • Track and analyze customer sales history and purchasing trends.
  • Identify and strategically pursue industry trends in fast-growing segments.
  • Handling marketing functions and special promotions.
  • Prepare sales reports and correspondence in a timely and effective manner.
  • Effectively liaise with the agronomy team daily to understand the produce available
  • Communicate product requirements daily to the packhouses and problem-solve to ensure that products meet the specifications of the clients.
  • Identify and establish relationships with key stakeholders to drive sales growth.
  • As part of marketing efforts develop tailored sales and promotional strategies for specific crop types and sectors.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for business expansion and improvement.
  • Be a brand ambassador and regularly post on social media about the availability of products
  • Attend industry events and travel to visit customers to build long-lasting relationships
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to senior management.

  Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Agriculture, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Experience in the horticulture industry.
  • Experience in planning and implementing sales strategies.
  • Experience in customer relationship management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dedication to providing great customer service.
  • Experience in collaboration cross functions with agronomy and packhouse teams
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel nationally to meet with clients, and farmers, attend industry events, and oversee sales operations.
