Job Purpose:

PI Capital Ltd trading as BAYES is looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join our team of EXCELLENCE!

The Finance Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, & ensuring compliance with internal controls & procedures. This role involves financial strategic planning, regular reconciliation of accounts, monitoring financial transactions, and providing recommendations to improve financial performance.

The Finance Officer will also play a key role in budgeting, variance analysis & fostering external relationships with relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial records maintenance:

  • Ensure the accurate and up-to-date maintenance of the company’s financial records.

Financial reporting:

  • Prepare and share weekly and monthly management financial reports.

Financial Analysis:

  • Interpret financial results and provide recommendations for improving the company’s financial performance.

Float Management:

  • Monitor and maintain Pi Capital’s float on various portals, including M-pesa, B2C portal and bills payment portal.

Expense Monitoring:

  • Monitor and manage Pi Capital’s telephone, text messages and other related expenses.

Internal Auditing:

  • Conduct internal audits, review systems and advise on internal control improvements.

Reconciling:

  • Perform daily reconciliations of all transactions within the system and external platforms interacting with the Bayes platform

Accounting Department oversight:

  • Oversee day to day activities of Pi capital ltd’s accounting department.

Data Entry:

  • Accurately post company transactions in the company’s preferred accounting software.

Monthly reconciliation:

  • Perform bank, customer’s loan accounts and accounts payables reconciliations on a monthly basis.

Cost Reduction:

  • Identify operational weakness and conduct reviews to identify cost reduction opportunities.

Budgeting:

  • Prepare cash flow forecasts, capital and operating budgets.

Variance Analysis:

  • Prepare periodic variance reports comparing actual vs budgeted amounts for investigation and decision making.

External Relationships:

  • Develop and maintain external relationships with relevant contacts, such as accounts payables, auditors, bankers & statutory organizations.

Automation:

  • Identify opportunities for automation or technology upgrades to streamline financial operations.

Any other duty assigned by your supervisor or as determined by the business needs.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Timely & accurate financial reporting, submit weekly & monthly financial reports by the working day of the following month with 99& accuracy.
  • Successful Implementation of recommended improvements, implement at least 80% recommended improvements within specified time frames.
  • Error-free reconciliation of accounts and transactions, achieve a reconciliation error rate of less than 1% on all accounts and transactions.
  • Adherence to internal processes and procedures, maintain compliance with internal processes and procedures, with no major deviations identified during audits.
  • Effective budgeting & Variance analysis, prepare budgets and variance reports that are within 5% of the approved budgeted amounts.
  • Positive feedback from external stakeholders, receive positive feedback and a satisfaction rating of at least 90% from external & internal stakeholders
  • Compliance with financial regulations and standards, ensure 100% compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.

Qualifications

Skills Required

Technical Accounting Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.Proficiency in accounting software

Analytical Skills:

  • Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insight.

Attention to Detail:

  • High accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.

Financial Analysis:

  • Ability to analyze financial performance and suggest improvements.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication for preparing reports and interacting with stakeholders.

Organizational Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is essential.
  • Certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

3 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the microfinance industry.
