In the search for a position, job seekers will be faced with common interview questions that may be seemingly obvious.  When the employer asks you “How long do you intend working for this company?”

They are trying to determine if you are a perfect fit for the company and if you would add value to the existing team.

An engaged employee that is aligned with the company’s mission and values will be more productive and stay at the company longer. Are you that person?

You might be panicking, wondering how to answer, “Why do you want to work here?” You never want to answer this question with a blunt and thoughtless response like, “Well, the pay is good, and I need a job.”

While this may be true, you aren’t giving yourself much of a chance.

I firmly believe in taking a collaborative approach to each project so when I saw a position with your company to join the production team I knew I had to apply. This answer works because it shows that you know the company. After all, you are aware of their projects and even viewed a video of their work.

“I read an article last year of the outreach work your company does within the community. Giving back and volunteering is a significant part of my values, and I remember feeling excited that a company values the community as much as I do. That is why I didn’t hesitate to apply when I saw there was a job opening in my field here.”

By responding with the values that are important to you and demonstrating how those align with the company, you are showing the employer that you would be delighted and fulfilled working at the company.

Answer 3

I would like to work for you as long as I can grow professionally and that I get exposed to more challenging tasks.”

When answering how long do you intend working for this company question, make sure you consider what you are looking for in a company and that it offers opportunities for you to grow and develop in your career.

“I have already heard about the company and the friendly work environment. I know it’s going to be a pleasant place to work with. I am looking out for the long term career here. I want to grow along with the company.”

Anytime an employer asks how long will you stay in our company it is always good to speak about the reputation of the company,  they are working hard to make their company a better place to work and getting recognized for their efforts is something they will like to hear.
